Tianshui
City, the second largest city in Gansu Province, lies
in the southeastern part of the province. Having a long
history, it is known as a famous historical and cultural
city and one of the birthplaces of the Chinese people.
Tianshui City, with beautiful landscape, distinguished
people, ancient cultural relics, and famous historical
sites, is rich in tourist resources. The world-famous
Manjishan Grottoes, one of the "Great Four Grottoes"
in china, has won the reputation as the "Oriental
Sculpture Gallery". The special products of farming
and forestry are rich in variety, high in quality and
easy to be mined. The proven mineral resources include
metal mines such as gold, iron. and copper, and nonmetal
mines such as dolomite, serpentine, and limestone. As
one of the old industrial bases in China, Tianshui boasts

The developed traffic facilities of Tianshui provide

west pun the Longhai (Lanzhou-Lianyungang) Railway and
the No.31O State Highway, and from the north to the
south go several main highways. Besides, an expressway
connects the eastern and western districts of the city,
and the airport on the outskirts of the city is available

wireless paging, and mobile phones together form a modern
communication system ensuring convenient and prompt
worldwide information exchanges. Tianshui is moving
ahead to be a center city in eastern Gansu Province
that is mainly employed in tourist and trading industry
and processing industry.
