Nanhai
is a city of long history, existed as a county since
214 BC. It is located in the middle of Guangdong province,
closer to Hong Kong and bordering on Guangzhou. It exercises
jurisdiction over 20 townships, and has a population
of 1.05 million permanent residents and 630,000 temporary
comers. There are over 400,000 compatriots from Hong
Kong and Macao.
With stretches of fertile plain, crisscross rivers,
mild climate and plentiful rainfall, Nanhan is a place
nicknamed as the "land of fish and rice".
Here the infrastructures are well done, commercial economy
is vigorous, and every social cause goes ahead healthily.
In last couple of years, the overall strength of the
city ranked in the top 100 counties in China, in the
3rd place. It is one of the most proper places for investment.
In 1997, the GNP of the city was RMB 25.14 billion yuan,
and the revenue was RMB 3.088 billion yuan.
