Nanhai is a city of long history, existed as a county since 214 BC. It is located in the middle of Guangdong province, closer to Hong Kong and bordering on Guangzhou. It exercises jurisdiction over 20 townships, and has a population of 1.05 million permanent residents and 630,000 temporary comers. There are over 400,000 compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao.
With stretches of fertile plain, crisscross rivers, mild climate and plentiful rainfall, Nanhan is a place nicknamed as the "land of fish and rice".
