Fangchenggang
City, situated in the junction of Southwest China and
Southeast Asia, an opening coastal and frontier city
in the south of Guangxi, is now serving as the major
gateway to the sea for southwest China and the most
convenient passageway to Vietnam and Southeast Asia
for China. The city is distinguished by its ports, of
which Fangcheng Port is the largest one in the western
area of China. The city, sharing the preferential policies
for coastal opening city, frontier area, nationality
autonomy and West Development Program, enjoys a promising
future in the West Development Program.
Under the city¡¯s jurisdiction are 2 districts,
1 county and a county-level city. It covers an area
of 6,181 square kilometers with a population of 778,400,
including a coastline of 584 kilometers and a borderline
of 230 kilometers. With its rich sea, forest, and tourist
resources, there are the largest production base of
Golden Camellia, Cassia and Anise of China, and it abounds
with famous and precious marine products, such as pearl,
prawn, jellyfish, etc. Shiwan Mountains, Golden Beach
and Jing Ethnic Custom attract huge numbers of tourists
from home and abroad each year.
Since the setup of the city in 1993, the city has made
great achievements in economic and social development
in accordance with the development scheme of ¡°Promote
the city by ports, stabilize the city by trade, strengthen
the city by industry, flourish the city by tourism,
administrate the city by law¡±.
