Sanya
City has a long history with relics of the Old Stone
Age discovered in the Luobi Grotto marking the earliest
human residence in Hainan Island.
Sanya is located in the center of Southeast Asia on
the circular belt of west Pacific.
It serves as a most convenient gate for China to communicate
with countries in Southeast Asia and a vital communication
line between China and Southwest Asia, Africa, and Europe
on water. It is an important port for foreign trading
of the southern border of China and the economic center
of southern Hainan province.
Sanya has a long coast line of 209.1 km, 10 islands
and 19 harbors of which Sanya port and Yulin port are
the largest. Presently, Sanya has already become an
important seaport playing an active role in foreign
trade businesses and in harboring the luxury tourist
cruisers.
