It has beautiful scenery, many famous resorts and ancient relics. It is one of the 100 famous historical and cultural cities in China.

Yinchuan is the capital of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is the center of politics, economy and culture of the whole region. It has a land area of 4,399 square kilometers and a population of 928,000.

Yinchuan has a history of 1300 years. It is also called "Phoenix City. On the Monument of Ethnic Unity in the city, there is a flying silver phoenix, which is a symbol of this city. It is told that Yinchuan was first built in the Tang Dynasty (618AD), called Yinchuan City at that time . In the Song Dynasty, Dangxiang ethnic group established Taibaishang Kingdom in the north of China (called Western Xia in history). they had their capital here which was called "Xingqingfu". The kingdom lasted for about 189 years and created a brilliant Western Xia culture. In the next few dynasties, Yinchuan was always used to be the administrative headquarters of Ningxia.

For 40 years since the establishment of the autonomous region, especially since the reform and open door policy, fundamental changes have taken place in Yinchuan. Taking its advantages as locating in the center if a coal and electrical power base, Yinchuan has rapidly developed its mainstay industries such as oil chemistry, machinery manufacturing, foodstuff processing and building material industry.
